About us
A small light, kept steady
Glimmer of Dawn, in Arabic وميض الفجر (Wameed Al-Fajr), is a new charity registered in Tangier, Morocco. We exist to help people in need here, starting with the smallest and most overlooked: babies left at the hospital.
Why did Glimmer of Dawn start small?
Because big plans made too early cost the people they're meant to help. The first idea was an orphanage in Tangier, with shops on the ground floor whose income would help pay for it. That idea hasn't gone away.
But an orphanage is expensive to build and hard to run well, and we'd rather learn before we spend. So we started with two things we can do properly now: supplies for newborns at the hospital, and free first-aid classes. Through the hospital we'll learn where these babies go next, and how to help there too.
How we work
Openness
Registration details on every page, purchases published with proof, income statements as they're ready.
Dignity
Babies and mothers are never the spectacle. We show hands, supplies and places, never faces.
Steadiness
Step by step. We only promise what the current project can deliver.

Questions about us
Is Glimmer of Dawn a registered charity?
Yes. Glimmer of Dawn is registered as a charity in Tangier, Morocco. The registration certificate lists our board members' personal details, so we don't publish it online, but we'll send you a copy if you ask. Choose “Certificate request” on the contact form.
Can I donate from inside Morocco?
Not yet. Raising money inside Morocco needs separate approval from Rabat, so for now we only accept gifts from outside the country. If you live in Morocco you can still help: request a first-aid class for your mosque or school, or tell us if you're a qualified trainer.
Is my donation tax-deductible?
Not at the moment. We're registered in Morocco, not in the US, UK or EU, so gifts to us don't currently qualify for tax relief in those countries.
Can I help without giving money?
Yes. If you're a qualified first-aid trainer, or you run a mosque or school in Tangier that would host a free class, we'd like to hear from you. Use the contact form and pick the topic that fits.
